Great Ocean Road - 1 Day Private Tour

The Great Ocean Road is one of the premier tourist drives in the world and a must for anyone visiting Melbourne. Victoria’s finest driving route covers over 243 kilometres of stunning scenery offering wildlife encounters with koalas, majestic ocean vistas and wind-carved gorges. The coastal route meanders through charming surf towns and the lush Eucalyptus forest of the Otway Ranges, ending at the dramatic Shipwreck Coast. Here you’ll see the world-renowned 12 Apostles from 60-metre high cliffs above the pounding sea.

Our unique itinerary first visits visit Bells Beach, Australia’s number one surf beach before we meander through the charming towns of Lorne and Apollo Bay. There’ll be time to take in the views of the Surf Coast Shire and snap a few photos along the way. We stop for morning tea & Coffee at locals cafe.

We’ll take our lunch at Apollo Bay then travel inland through the majestic Eucalyptus forests of the Otway Ranges where we delve into the rainforest to encounter towering Eucalyptus tree’s. Next we journey to the dramatic Shipwreck Coast from atop 60-metre high cliffs with amazing views of the huge limestone stacks in the ocean that we call the 12 Apostles. You can further explore this breathtaking area by walking down the Gibson Steps to the beach. Then in nearby Loch Ard Gorge, you’ll hear the heroic and tragic story of the ill-fated Loch Ard shipwreck.

On our way back to Melbourne, we travel inland through the fertile dairy country of the Otways, stopping at a local chocolatier for last minute indulgence before arriving back in Melbourne at approximately 7:00-7.30pm.

FAQ

Whats for lunch?

Food is so important these days and we want you to enjoy the type and style of food you like by allowing you to select from one of the following in the Extra’s section during the booking process.

Lunch Option A; Seafood Dining Resturant ($60pp)- Enjoy a two course seafood dining experience at La Bimba ( http://labimba.com.au/) on the esplanade at Apollo Bay. You will receive a seafood share platter plus mains and a glass of wine. Ideal for the seafood foodie who wants to sample the local catch and enjoy table service and matched wines.

Lunch Option B; Friendly Cafe Resturant ($35pp) – Bay Leaf Cafe is a vibrant lunch spot on the boulevard and offers a wide array of locally inspired, healthy lunch options with excellent coffee. You will receive a small share plate entree plus mains (a la carte) and a beverage. Ideal for those wanting wholesome, friendly, relaxed lunch with a ‘locals’ feel.

Lunch Option C; Decide on the day and pay direct – Its all about choice. This option allows you to pay direct on the day to a wide range of places, or bring your own. Chose from a local Gastronomic Pub meal, Healthy Organic Cafe, Chinese or perhaps Fish and Chips by the beach. Select this and your guide will inform you of your options on the day.

How long is the drive?

The drive is a full day of touring from 7.300am – 7.30pm and takes up to 500km to complete. We make lots of stops but yes there is a lot of driving ( approx 7-8hrs in vehicle) Please consider children if you have young kids. At least you get to sit back and relax in comfort and luxury and watch this amazing scenery go by.

Is there free Wifi?

Yes we have Free Wifi for you whilst on tour.

Do you cater for Children?

Bring your family and your children. It is a long drive up to 11 hours on the road and if you believe your children are capable of the journey then bring them along. If you have children under 4 we must be notified to bring a harness seat for them by law. If you have children between 4-7 we must be notified  to bring a booster seat for them by law.

Do we get on the beach?

Of course. There are a few options to walk on the beach at Loch Ard Gorge and Eastern View. Ask your driver so they can prioritise more time on the beach for you. Unfortunately we usually don’t have time to swim though.
